One of my favorite quotes is from Denzel Washington’s 2015 commencement address at Dillard University: “Say thank you in advance for what is already yours. … When you get it, reach back, pull someone else up. Each one, teach one. Don’t just aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference.”
This resonates with me because it emphasizes the importance of striving for good and helping others when we achieve our own success. As Washington said, “You’ll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse.” We can’t take our material wealth with us when we depart this life. It’s what we do with what we have that truly counts.
This ethos aligns with my dream of becoming financially successful to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I’ve been inspired by acts of kindness I’ve seen on YouTube, where people change lives for the better through financial gifts and experiences.
